Keratex takes time out to visit SPANA in Morocco
Keratex Hoofcare has taken some time out from the office to visit equine vet Michael Crane of animal charity Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad (SPANA). Michael - who has a monthly column in Horse magazine – is employed by the charity to assess and treat horses, donkeys and mules in the country.
Michael and his 40-strong team of vets support equines and advise their owners on how to provide a more comfortable life for their charges. The team performs routine checks, operations and treatments on a daily basis.
Having seen the good work of SPANA, we wanted to have a hand in improving these animals’ lives. After discussing the various products and their actions with Michael, we decided that a shipment of our DIY hoof repair kit Keratex 3P Hoof Repair, as well as flagship product Keratex Hoof Hardener, would go some way towards helping the health and well-being of these animals.
Keratex 3P Hoof Repair is a product which is specifically designed for on-site repair and support of hoof horn. It is ideal for horses with dry, brittle and cracked hooves and assists the horse’s natural defences against sandcracks. For this reason Keratex 3P Hoof Repair seemed the obvious choice for Michael’s patients in Morocco.
Keratex Hoof Hardener is a liquid which, when applied to the hoof wall, strengthens the molecular structure of the hoof, making shoeing and walking on varied terrain easier and more comfortable. It can help to prevent sandcracks appearing, and provides a strong hoof wall for nail holes and road work. Again, this seemed an sensible choice for the charity.
We wish Michael and his team at SPANA all the best for the future. Charities like these are vital in informing owners how best to take care of their equine, therefore improving the welfare of these beautiful, friendly creatures. Keep up the good work SPANA!
